MEL

I've been coached by Simon for over 2 years, initially through his Tri Force Endurance business and more recently through Velo Performance.

In 2022, I achieved my goal of completing a Half Ironman. Simon helped me plan my triathlon training around a busy job and I was thrilled with the result.

However, what I learnt in the process was that I was as motivated by the long term fitness journey as I was by my race goals. Whilst it was fun to stack up the medals, I didn't need those to feel a sense of accomplishment. Also, focusing solely on race outcomes and trying to cram in 3 sports plus strength training was proving stressful.

Joining Velo Performance has allowed me to focus on what I love - creating a lifestyle for myself that is focused on a healthy mind and body. Outside of my training sessions, I really enjoy learning more about fitness and nutrition and this is what sets Velo apart. It's not just a training programme. I also get 121 video calls, educational content, monthly recipes as well as additional engagement with the coaches and other clients via the Facebook group. This content is holistic, spanning fitness, nutrition and recovery. Through this, I have deepened my own knowledge and was inspired to complete my Precision Nutrition Level 1 certification over the summer.

As an athlete in peri-menopause, my main goal Is to be as healthy and strong as I can be in my training and lifestyle. Simon has been really supportive during what can be a mentally and physically challenging life stage. He knows that I love and place great importance on heavy lifting in the gym so that's a key part of my training.

In September, I was one of only 5 women to complete the Struggle Borderlands event in North Yorkshire. Before working with Simon, I'd have been terrified of taking on such a massively hilly sportive. It was a tough but beautiful day in the saddle and now I know how much I can achieve, I've signed up to do the Dragon Ride next year.

Working with Simon has been an amazing experience and I'm very much looking forward to the journey ahead.
